Quincy Dance Theatre, a non-profit organization, was formed in March of 2006 with the intent of providing professional, dance-theatre training and performance experiences for Quincy and surrounding communities. QDT has emerged from rural roots and embraces simplicity and authenticity in its work. QDT is a dance-theatre company….meaning we incorporate all aspects of art into our work.…dialogue, dance, poetry, painting, singing, acting…. Our primary vehicle is dance; our journey is into the human heart.
Our company consists of 8 dancers and many other performers. Our director, Denee Jordan, re-located from California, brings with her the rich tradition of Plexus Dance Theatre, which she directed for 21 years. Plexus was famous for its use of alternative venues and common everyday themes for its work. In 1999, Plexus produced ‘Reaching’, exploring one woman’s extraordinary experience with schizophrenia. In contrast, in 2001, televised nationally, Plexus performed ‘Gourmallet’, a comedy satire on grocery shopping.
In September of 2006, Quincy Dance Theatre produced ‘Something Unexpected’, transforming the interior of an abandoned vaudeville theatre into an evening of magic, mystery, and humor. The response was overwhelmingly positive from the critics, the audience, and the skeptics.
We invite you to enjoy us……….
